I've done exactly that on quite a few server upgrades over the years - but not recently.

Recently I've created new server names, moved the users via AdminP, and finally decommissioned the old servers.

I assume that both servers are listed in the LocalDomainServers group - or at least both servers have access to all databases on the server.

IP Address changes? Does the Windows Server need to be renamed?

Do you see any messages on the console as the server starts? Check the console.log and Windows Events logs for errors and/or ideas.
